Misunderstand Me! The Poetics of Loneliness
Kierkegaard Among the Youth
Is an interdisciplinary study that explores the existential crises, experiences
of loneliness, and identity quests of modern individuals
through the philosophical lens of Søren Kierkegaard. Departing
from conventional academic discourse, the work employs irony,
aesthetic silence, and fragmented narration to engage with the
emotional and intellectual world of contemporary youth. The author
reinterprets Kierkegaard’s existential thought in relation to
digital culture, social media practices, and processes of selfalienation.
Within this framework, loneliness is not treated as a deficiency but
as an ontological possibility that enables self-confrontation. Concepts
such as boredom, fear, irony, and identity are analyzed not
merely as psychological states but as foundational elements of human
existence. In particular, boredom and solitude are redefined
as starting points for philosophical reflection rather than conditions
to be avoided in modern life.
The book does not aim to instruct or provide definitive answers; instead,
it seeks to provoke discomfort and generate questions. By doing
so, it presents philosophy as a lived, experiential practice embedded
in everyday life rather than a purely academic discipline.
Ultimately, the work offers a unique and contemporary interpretation
of existential thought tailored to the sensibilities of modern
youth.
