Bu çalışmada iʿrâz kelimesinin Kur’ân-ı Kerîm’deki kullanımları konu edilmiştir. İʿrâz, kelime kökü itibariyle yüz çevirmek anlamına gelmektedir. Kur’ân-ı Kerîm’de çeşitli bağlamlarda insan eylemi olarak kullanılmıştır. Öte yandan Kur’ân’da, yapısal olarak iʿrâz ile aynı kökten olmamasına rağmen müfessirler tarafından iʿrâz kelimesi ile tercüme edilen fiiller de bulunmaktadır. Bu kelimeler tevellâ, sadde, sadefe ve safehe fiilleridir. Oysa bu kelimelerin ifade ettiği farklı anlamlar olmalıdır. Dolayısıyla bu çalışmada iʿrâz sözcüğünün genel anlamlarının yanı sıra mürâdifi olduğu varsayılan kelimeler ele alınmıştır. Çalışmada, bu kelimelerin ortak yönlerine değinilmiş ve her birinin aslında özel bir kullanım alanına sahip olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Çalışma için iʿrâz kelimesinin seçilmesinde; müfessirlerin ilgili âyette zikredilen iʿrâz kelimesine bazen farklı anlamlar yüklemesi, meâllerde ilgili kelimenin kök anlamı göz ardı edilerek âyetin muhtevasına göre yaklaşık anlamlar verilmesi, kök anlam itibariyle iʿrâz ile benzer olmamasına rağmen bazı sözcüklere iʿrâz anlamı yüklenilmesi, Türkiye’deki akademik çalışmalarda bu konunun detaylı olarak incelenmemiş ve yeteri kadar çalışılmamış olması gibi sebepler etkili olmuştur. Çalışma, bir giriş ve iki ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. Girişte iʿrâz sözcüğü hakkında semantik bir yöntem takip edilerek genel bilgiler verilmiştir. Birinci bölümde iʿrâz kelimesinin Kur’ân’daki anlamları irdelenmiş, ikinci bölümde ise iʿrâz sözcüğünün mürâdifi olduğu sanılan kelimelerin iʿrâz sözcüğü ile bağlantısı ya da farklılığı ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır.
The Function of Linguistic Exegesis in Qur’anic Interpretation (The Example of Iʿrāz/Turning Away)
In this study, the uses of the word ʾiʿrāḍ in the Qurʾān are discussed. ʾiʿrāḍ means turning away in terms of its word root. It is used as a human action in various contexts in the Qurʾān. On the other hand, there are verbs in the Qurʾān that are translated with the word ʾiʿrāḍ by the commentators although they are not structurally from the same root as ʾiʿrāḍ. These words are the verbs tawallā, sadda, sadefah, and safehe. However, these words should have different meanings. Therefore, in this study, in addition to the general meanings of the word ʾiʿrāḍ, the words that are assumed to be its murrādifiers are discussed. In the study, the common aspects of these words are mentioned and it is concluded that each of them actually has a special usage area. The word ʾiʿrāḍ was chosen for the study; The reasons for the selection of the word ʾiʿrāḍ for the study are as follows: the commentators sometimes attribute different meanings to the word ʾiʿrāḍ mentioned in the relevant verse, ignoring the root meaning of the word and giving approximate meanings according to the content of the verse, attributing the meaning of ʾiʿrāḍ to some words even though they are not similar to ʾiʿrāḍ in terms of root meaning, and the fact that this subject has not been examined in detail and has not been studied sufficiently in academic studies in Turkey. The study consists of an introduction and two main chapters. In the introduction, general information about the word ʾiʿrāḍ is given by following a semantic method. In the first chapter, the meanings of the word ʾiʿrāḍ in the Qur’ān are examined, and in the second chapter, the word ʾiʿrāḍ is analysed.
