Methods of Reading Classics The Classics of Islamic Studies
The texts in this book (ed. Hadi Ensar Ceylan, Ahmet Ziya Fıstıkçıoğlu) were prepared based on the lectures given in Anadolu İlahiyat Akademisi (Ankara, Türkiye) on the methods of reading Islamic classics. In these lectures, topics such as the meaning of the term classic, what the classics of Islam are, the historical development of classical literature, and the methods by which these works were read in the classical and modern periods were discussed. The book consists of eleven chapters. The first three of these chapters, written by Hadi Ensar Ceylan, Tuncay Başoğlu and Serdar Kurnaz, provides general information about the classics of Islam. Each of the other chapters is specific to the fields of fiqh, tafsir, hadith, theology, mysticism, linguistics, rational sciences and Islamic history. These chapters were written by Oğuzhan Tan, Ömer Özsoy, M. Hayri Kırbaşoğlu, İbrahim Aslan, Salih Çift, İbrahim Fidan, Mehmet Tayfun Küçük and Kevser Beyazyüz Sipahioğlu. All of the contributers are academics who are experienced in reading the classics of Islam. With this book, they have had the opportunity to share their experiences in the relevant field with readers interested in Islamic studies, especially academic candidates. In this respect, the book will make important contributions to the literature.
