İsa’ya Rağmen Hıristiyanlık Hıristiyan Kutsal Metinlerindeki Bilinmeyen Çelişkiler
Ehrman İsa’ya Rağmen Hıristiyanlık adlı bu çalışmasında tarihsel eleştirel yöntemin Hıristiyan kutsal metinlerine (Yeni Ahit’e) uygulanması sonucunda ciddi çelişki ve tezatların söz konusu olduğuna dikkat çeker. Dahası, Ehrman’a göre sadece Yeni Ahit kitapları arasında değil, her bir kitabın kendi içinde de ciddi çelişki ve tezatlar vardır. Bu gerçeğe karşın Ehrman’a göre Kitab-ı Mukaddes araştırmacıları ne yazık ki hem tarihsel hem de teolojik konularda birbirleriyle oldukça farklı fikirlere sahip olabilmektedir. Ehrman, araştırmacıların ve din adamlarının/görevlilerinin farkında olduğu söz konusu çelişki ve tezatlar konusunda kilise cemaatlerinin bilgi sahibi olmamasının ciddi bir noksanlık olduğunu belirtir. Yani Ehrman’a göre kürsüdekiler Hıristiyan kutsal metinlerin nasıl oluştuğunu, ne tür çelişki ve tezatlar barındırdıklarını dolayısıyla da nasıl bir Hıristiyanlığı insanlara sunduklarını üç aşağı beş yukarı bilmelerine rağmen, kilise sıralarında oturanların yani Hıristiyan cemaatinin/halkın tüm bunlardan habersiz olduğu ve bunun da açık bir haksızlık olduğunun altını çizmektedir. İşte bu noktadan hareketle kendisinin araştırmalarında elde ettiği sonuçları tam bir dürüstlük ve cesaretle geniş kitlelere duyurmayı ilke edindiğini vurgulu bir şekilde ifade eder.
Jesus, Interrupted Revealing the Hidden Contradictions in the Bible (and Why We Don’t Know About Them)
In this study, Christianity Despite Jesus, Ehrman draws attention to the fact that the application of the historical-critical method to the Christian scriptures (the New Testament) reveals serious contradictions and contradictions. Moreover, according to Ehrman, there are serious contradictions and contradictions not only among the books of the New Testament but also within each book itself. Despite this fact, Ehrman argues that, unfortunately, biblical scholars can disagree with each other on both historical and theological issues. Ehrman states that it is a serious deficiency that church congregations are not informed about these contradictions and contradictions, which researchers and clergymen/laymen are aware of. In other words, according to Ehrman, although those in the pulpit know more or less how the Christian scriptures were formed, what kind of contradictions and contradictions they contain, and therefore what kind of Christianity they present to people, those sitting in the pews, that is, the Christian community/public, are unaware of all these and this is a clear injustice. From this point of view, he emphasises that he has made it a principle to announce the results of his research to the masses with complete honesty and courage.
