Hz. Ali’ye Nispet Edilen Topkapı Mushafı
Hz.
Osman’a bazısı ise Hz.

Topkapi Palace Mushaf Attributed to Hazrat Ali
There are mushafs from the first centuries in various parts of the world. Some of these mushafs are attributed to Hazrat Osman, while others are considered to belong to Hazrat Ali. One of the mushafs accepted to belong to Hazrat Ali in our country is the copy numbered 754 in the New Manuscripts Library of the Topkapı Palace Museum. It is thought that this mushaf was written by Hazrat Ali, and in the catalogue prepared specifically for the Museum and in the Museum inventory book, it is stated that it is attributed to Hazrat Ali due to the phrases found at the beginning of the mushaf. The Topkapi Mushaf is the subject of our study because it is accepted that it was written by Hazrat Ali and because it contains the characteristics of a very early period. The book consists of three parts. In the first section, the codicological, orthographic and paleographic features of the Mushaf are discussed. Using the information obtained here, the date when the Mushaf could have been written and the possibility of attributing it to Hazrat Ali are investigated. In the second part, the spelling features of the mushafs that emerged during the copying activities of Hazrat Osman were compared with the spelling style of the Topkapı Mushaf, and it was examined which of the Ottoman mushafs the spelling of the Mushaf was compatible with and in which region it emerged. In the last section, an attempt was made to determine the reading taken as a basis in the writing of the Mushaf within the framework of classical sources. In the light of the data obtained as a result of the study, it was concluded that the Topkapı Mushaf was a copy written based on the mushafs sent by Hazrat Osman to the Iraq region (Basra-Kufa) and that the readings belonging to the Basra qurra were taken into account in its spelling, that the Mushaf came into being at the beginning of the second century, and therefore, that it cannot be attributed to Hazrat Ali.
