Kur’ân’ı Kerim İslam’ın temel kaynağıdır. Müslümanlar ona muhatap oldukları zamandan itibaren onu en doğru şekilde anlamak için gayret göstermişlerdir. Bu gayret sözlü olduğu gibi yazılı olarak da eserler telif etmek suretiyle yapılmıştır. Kur’ân’ı anlamaya çalışma ameliyesinin önemli bir tezahürü de Müphemâtü’l-Kur’ân (belirsizlik) konusudur. Kur’ân’da müphem (belirsiz) ifadelerle ilgili çalışma ve araştırmalar, Kur’ân’ın mesajını doğru anlamak adına yapılmış önemli ilmî faaliyetlerdir. Bu araştırma, tefsir geleneğinin kült isimlerinden Muhammed bin Cerîr Taberî’nin Câmiu’l-beyân adlı ansiklopedik tefsirinde müphem konusuna yaklaşımını, metodolojik açıdan ele almaktadır. Ancak Mübhemât konusunun sistematik olarak ele alınması Taberî sonrasına rastlar. Dolayısıyla et-Taberî’de mübhem ifadeler belirlenmeye çalışılırken sonraki dönemde telif edilen eserlerden yararlanılmıştır. Bu bağlamda çerçevenin belirlenmesinde Celâluddin es-Suyûtî’nin bu konudaki çalışması temel referans olarak belirlenmiştir. Bu çalışma, et-Taberî’nin Câmiu’l-beyân ʽan te’vîli âyi’l-Kur’ân adlı tefsiri esas alınarak, niceliksel veriler ve niteliksel tahliller yoluyla müellifin mübhem ifadelere yaklaşımı hususunda, onun tefsir metodolojisini ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Buna göre et-Taberî mübhem ifadeleri ağırlıklı olarak rivâyetler üzerinden açıklamakta ve özellikle Hz. Peygamber’den gelen merfû hadisleri öncelemektedir. Aynı zamanda Taberî siyâk-sibâk ilişkisi, Kur’ân’ın Kur’ân ile tefsiri, dilsel bağlam, tarihî veriler ve mantık örgüsü gibi unsurları da kullanmaktadır. Mübhemâtın öznel bir nitelik taşıdığı, müfessirlerin ilmî birikimine göre şekillendiği görülmektedir. Sonuç itibariyle et-Taberî’nin rivâyet ve dirâyet unsurlarını başarıyla harmanladığı ve onun özgün bir metodolojiye sahip olduğu ortaya konmaktadır.

Al-Ṭabarī on the Ambiguous Passages of the Qur’ān
An Analysis Between Riwayah and Preference
The Holy Qur’an is the fundamental source of Islam. Since the moment
Muslims first became its addressees, they have strived to understand it
in the most accurate manner. This endeavor has been manifested both
through oral tradition and the composition of written works. A significant
manifestation of this process of attempting to understand the
Qur’an is the subject of mubhamāt al-Qurʾān (indeterminacy). Studies
and research concerning müphem (ambiguous/indiscernible) expressions
in the Qur’an are vital scholarly activities conducted to accurately
comprehend the message of the Qur’an. This research examines the approach
to the subject of müphem within the encyclopedic tefsir of Muhammad
ibn Jarir al-Tabari, titled Câmiu’l-beyân, from a methodological
perspective. al-Tabari is a seminal figure within the tefsir tradition;
however, the systematic treatment of Mübhemât as a distinct subject occurred
after his era. Consequently, while identifying müphem expressions
in al-Tabari’s work, studies composed in subsequent periods have
been utilized. In this context, Jalaluddin al-Suyuti’s work on this subject
has been designated as the primary reference for defining the framework.
Based on al-Tabari’s tefsir titled Câmiu’l-beyân ʽan te’vîli âyi’l-
Kur’ân, this study aims to reveal the author’s tefsir methodology regarding
his approach to müphem expressions through quantitative data and
qualitative analysis. Accordingly, al-Tabari explains müphem expressions
predominantly through rivâyet (narrations) and prioritizes marfû
hadith originating from the Prophet. Simultaneously, al-Tabari employs
elements such as siyâk-sibâk (contextual) relationships, the tefsir of the
Qur’an by the Qur’an, linguistic context, historical data, and logical
frameworks. It is observed that Mübhemât possesses a subjective quality
and is shaped according to the scholarly background of the müfessirs. In
conclusion, it is demonstrated that al-Tabari successfully harmonized
the elements of rivâyet and dirâyet, possessing a unique methodology.
