Mâtürîdî’nin Tefsirde Rivayetleri Tercih Etme Yöntemi
Müslüman düşünce sisteminde re’y ekolünün güçlü temsilcisi ve Ehl-i Sünnet kelamının kurucu isimlerinden Ebû Mansûr el-Mâtürîdî (ö. 333/944), aynı zamanda erken dönem müfessirlerindendir. Bu dönemin tefsir geleneği genel itibariyle rivayetlerden beslenirken, Mâtürîdî ise tefsir eserinde yararlandığı rivayetleri sistematik olarak akıl ve dirayet süzgecinden geçirmeyi tercih etmiştir. Mâtürîdî’nin tefsir ve te’vîl faaliyetini birbirinden ayırması, tefsir geleneğinde yeni bir yöntemin kapısını aralamıştır. Onun yaptığı değerlendirme ve yorumlar; kabul veya reddettiği görüşlere dair ortaya koyduğu gerekçeler, günümüzde dahi güncelliğini korur. Çalışma, Mâtürîdî’nin Te’vîlâtü’l-Kur’ân eseri ekseninde onun, tefsir rivayetlerini değerlendirme ve tercih etme sebeplerini kapsamlı olarak analiz eder. Buradan hareketle onun söz konusu rivayetleri kabul veya reddetme gerekçelerini tespit etmek bu hususa ilişkin onun metodolojisini ortaya koymak bu araştırmanın temel amacını oluşturur. Böylece konu ile ilgili yapılacak modern çalışmalara ilham kaynağı olması beklenir. Çalışma, Mâtürîdî’nin hayatı ve ilmi kişiliğinin ele alındığı bir giriş ve beş bölümden müteşekkildir. Buna göre onun kabul veya reddettiği rivayetlere dair Kur’ân’ın bütünlüğü; bilgi teorisi, dil ve belâgat; tarihi veriler ve nüzul ortamı son olarak da kelâmî ve mantıkî tutarlılık şeklinde beş temel eleştirel süzgeçten geçirmiştir. Bu durum, onun rivayetlere yaklaşım metodolojisinin anlam odaklı olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Sonuç itibariyle bu araştırma, literatür taramasına dayalı nitel bir alan çalışması olup tümevarım tekniği ile verilerini işlemekte, Mâtürîdî’nin anlam ve hikmet merkezli, sistematik bir tefsir metodunu benimsediğini ortaya koymaktadır.

The Method of Preferring Transmitted Reports (Riwayāt) in
Exegesis according to Māturīdī
Ebû Mansûr el-Mâtürîdî (d. 333/944), a powerful representative of the
re’y school in Islamic thought and a founding figure of Ahl al-Sunnah
kalām, is also among the prominent early-period müfessirs. While the
tafsir tradition of this era was generally nourished by rivāyāt (narrations),
Mâtürîdî preferred to systematically process the narrations he
utilized in his work through the filters of reason (aql) and dirāyat (rational
interpretation). His distinction between the activities of tafsir and
ta’wīl opened the door to a new methodology in the exegetical tradition.
His evaluations, interpretations, and the justifications he provided for
accepting or rejecting various views remain relevant even today. This
study comprehensively analyzes Mâtürîdî’s reasons for evaluating and
preferring tafsir narrations within the framework of his work, Te’vîlâtü’l-
Kur’ân. Accordingly, the primary objective of this research is to identify
his grounds for accepting or rejecting these narrations and to reveal his
methodology in this regard. It is expected that this work will serve as an
inspiration for modern studies on the subject. Following an introduction
covering Mâtürîdî’s life and scholarly persona, the study is composed of
five chapters. He subjected the narrations he accepted or rejected to five
fundamental critical filters: the integrity of the Qur’an; theory of knowledge
(epistemology); language and balāghat (rhetoric); historical data
and the nuzūl (revelation) environment; and finally, kalāmī and logical
consistency. This approach demonstrates that his methodology for engaging
with narrations is meaning-oriented. Ultimately, this research is a
qualitative field study based on a literature review, processing its data
through an inductive technique to reveal that Mâtürîdî adopted a systematic
tafsir method centered on meaning (ma’nā) and wisdom (hikmah).
