“Memlüklerde İlim ve Kültür: Eserler” başlığını taşıyan bu çalışma, Memlük döneminin ilmî ve kültürel birikimini, çeşitli sahalarda vücut bulmuş değerli eserlerin bazıları üzerinden incelemeyi hedefleyen bir giriş niteliğindedir. Çalışmada, Memlük ilim ve fikir dünyasını şekillendiren muhtelif alanları temsil eden temel metinler; tarihî bağlamları, entelektüel arka planları ve Memlük düşünce geleneğine kazandırdıkları etrafında ele alınmaktadır. Bu çerçevede eserin asıl gayesi, Memlük ilim ve kültür dünyasının sürekliliğini bazı eserler üzerinden göstermektir. Bu çalışma, Memlük ilim ve kültür hayatının zengin dokusunu dinî, edebî, felsefî, hukukî ve estetik anlayışı etrafında tanıtmakta; söz konusu metinlerin telif edildikleri dönemin ilmî ve fikrî atmosferine ışık tutmasının yanı sıra Memlük toplumunun dinî, sosyal ve kültürel yapısının şekillenmesindeki etkilerini de göstermektedir. İslam ilim geleneğinin önemli örneklerini teşkil eden bu telifat hem Memlük entelektüel mirasının kurucu unsurlarını hem de söz konusu miras ile günümüz kültürel birikimi arasındaki bağı kavrama açısından dikkate değer malumat sunmaktadır. Elinizdeki çalışmada incelenen eserler değerlendirilirken metinlerin ortaya çıktığı entelektüel çevre, toplumsal ihtiyaçlarla kurdukları ilişki ve ilmî düşüncenin gelişimine sağladıkları katkılar da değerlendirilmektedir. “Memlüklerde İlim ve Kültür: Eserler” adlı çalışma, Memlük medeniyetinin ilmî ve kültürel mirasını anlamak isteyen araştırmacılar ile bu alanda merakı olan tüm okuyucular için bir mukaddime niteliğini haiz olup Memlük düşünce geleneğinin çeşitliliğini ortaya koyarak bu mirasın tarihsel ve kültürel önemine dair bir bakış açısı sunmaktadır.

Science and Culture in the Mamluks
Works
The present study, entitled “Science and Culture in the Mamluks: Works”
serves as an introduction aiming to examine the scholarly and cultural
accumulation of Mamluk civilization through a selection of significant
works produced in various fields. It discusses foundational texts that
represent the diverse domains shaping the intellectual and scholarly
milieu of the Mamluks, addressing their historical contexts, intellectual
backgrounds, and the contributions they made to the Mamluk tradition
of thought. Within this framework, the principal objective of the work
is to demonstrate the continuity of Mamluk scholarly and cultural life
through certain representative works. This study presents the rich fabric
of Mamluk intellectual and cultural life around religious, literary,
philosophical, legal, and architectural–aesthetic orientations. In addition
to illuminating the scholarly and intellectual atmosphere of the periods
in which these texts were composed, it also reveals their influence
on the formation of the religious, social, and cultural structures of Mamluk
society. These compositions—constituting significant examples of
the Islamic scholarly tradition—provide valuable insight into both the
foundational components of the Mamluk intellectual heritage and the
connection between this legacy and contemporary cultural knowledge.
In evaluating the works examined in this study, attention is also given
to the intellectual milieu in which the texts emerged, their relationship
to societal needs, and the contributions they offered to the development
of scholarly thought. “Science and Culture in the Mamluks: Works” thus
serves as a prologue for researchers seeking to understand the scholarly
and cultural heritage of Mamluk civilization, as well as for all readers
interested in the field. By highlighting the diversity of the Mamluk intellectual
tradition, it offers a perspective on the historical and cultural
significance of this heritage
