Bu çalışma, Erzurum yöresinde yaşayan Alevîlerin nüfus yapısını, coğrafi dağılımlarını, inanç sistemlerini, ibadet biçimlerini, ahlaki tutumlarını ve örf-adetlerini tespit etmeyi; aynı zamanda Erzurum Alevîliğinin kendine özgü yapısını ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Bununla birlikte, son dönemde artan sanayileşme ve kentleşme sürecinin, Erzurum yöresinde yaşayan Alevîlerin sosyal ve kültürel hayatlarında meydana getirdiği dönüşümler de ele alınmaktadır. Araştırma kapsamında önceden belirlenen çalışma grubuyla yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yapılmış, elde edilen veriler kayıt altına alınmıştır. Söz konusu veriler, saha sürecinde katılımlı gözlem yöntemiyle doğal ortamlarında desteklenmiş ve elde edilen bulgular bilimsel bir değerlendirmeye tabi tutulmuştur. Türkiye nüfusunun önemli bir bölümünü oluşturan Alevîlerin inanç, ibadet ve kültürel yapılarının sağlıklı bir şekilde anlaşılması; toplumsal birlik, kardeşlik ve güven ortamının güçlenmesi açısından hayati bir önem taşımaktadır. Anadolu’nun farklı bölgelerinde yaşayan Alevî topluluklarının Alevîliği algılama, yorumlama ve yaşama biçimlerinin birbirinden farklılıklar arz etmesi nedeniyle, bu çalışmada görüşmecilerin yaş, cinsiyet, toplumsal statü ve coğrafi çeşitliliğine özellikle dikkat edilmiştir. Teorik kaynaklarda yer alan Alevîlik anlayışı ile Erzurum ve çevresinde günümüzde yaşanan Alevîliği karşılaştırmalı bir biçimde ortaya koyabilmek amacıyla, görüşmecilerin düşüncelerine ve anlatılarına çalışmada doğrudan yer verilmiştir. Bu yönüyle eser, Erzurum yöresindeki Alevîliğin inançsal, kültürel ve toplumsal boyutlarını sahaya dayalı özgün verilerle ortaya koyan kapsamlı bir başvuru kaynağı niteliği taşımaktadır.

From Roots to the Present Alevism in Erzurum
Belief, Worship, and Life Practices
This study aims to examine, from a holistic perspective, the population
structure, geographic distribution, belief systems, forms of worship,
moral attitudes, and customs of the Alevi community living in the Erzurum
region, and to reveal the distinctive characteristics of Erzurum
Alevism. In addition, the transformations brought about by the recent
processes of industrialization and urbanization and their effects on the
social and cultural life of the Alevis in the region are examined in detail.
Within the scope of the research, semistructured interviews were
conducted with a previously determined sample group, and the data
obtained were recorded. These data were supported through participant
observation in natural settings during the fieldwork, and the findings
were subjected to systematic academic evaluation. A proper and comprehensive
understanding of the beliefs, rituals, and cultural structures
of the Alevis—who constitute a significant portion of Turkey’s population—
is of vital importance for strengthening social unity, solidarity,
and a climate of trust. Since Alevi communities living in different
regions of Anatolia exhibit diverse ways of perceiving, interpreting,
and practicing Alevism, particular attention was paid in this study to
ensuring diversity in terms of age, gender, social status, and geographical
background of the interviewees. In order to present a comparative
perspective between the understanding of Alevism found in theoretical
sources and the form of Alevism practiced today in and around Erzurum,
the views and narratives of the interviewees were included directly
in the study. In this respect, the book constitutes a comprehensive
and reliable reference work that presents the religious, cultural, and
social dimensions of Erzurum Alevism based on original field data.
