Kadim Yunan orijinli ve çok yönlü bir kavram olan cevher, İslam Felsefesinde pek çok tartışmanın odağında bulunmaktadır. Cevhere yüklenen anlam düşüncenin seyrini şekillendiren ve düşünürün varlığa bakışını tespit etmemize imkân sunan bir mahiyet arz etmektedir. Cevher mantıkla ilgili olduğu kadar fizik ve metafizikle de ilgili bir kavramdır. Mantıkta yapılan cevher tanımı, tanım cümlesindeki konuyu ön plana çıkarırken fizikte ve metafizikte onun kendi başınalığı vurgulanmaktadır. Metafizik alandaki özellikle basit cevherler ile ilgili zihinsel düşünce süreçleri cevher hakkında farklı yorumlara olanak sağlamaktadır. Şüphesiz bu alanlar birbirinden tamamen bağımsız alanlar değildir. Dolayısıyla değerlendirmeler de birbirinden tamamen bağımsız yapılmamaktadır. İslam Felsefesinin İslam coğrafyasında üretilen felsefi düşünceler olduğu muvacehesinde biz çalışmamızda felsefenin kavramlarını kullanmalarından dolayı kelam ve tasavvuf alanındaki görüşlere de yer vererek konuyu incelemeye çalıştık. Çalışmanın sonunda ise modern dönemle ilgili bazı öneriler geliştirmeye çalıştık.

The concept of substance, originating from ancient Greece and being multifaceted, is at the center of many discussions in Islamic Philosophy. The meaning attributed to substance shapes the course of thought and allows us to determine the philosopher’s perspective on existence. Substance is a concept that relates not only to logic but also to physics and metaphysics. The definition of substance in logic highlights the subject in the definitional sentence, while in physics and metaphysics, its self-sufficiency is emphasized to exist. In the metaphysical field, especially mental thought processes about simple substances provide facilities for different interpretations of substance. Undoubtedly, these areas are not completely independent of one another. Therefore, the evaluations are also not made completely independently. Considering that the Islamic Philosophy consists of philosophical thoughts produced in the Islamic geography, we aimed to examine the topic by including views from the fields of kalam and Islamic mysticism due to their use of philosophical concepts. At the end of the study, we attempted to develop some suggestions related to the modern period.
