Defense of Sunnah in Yemen The Example of Ibn al-Wazir al-Yamani (H. 775-840)
An examination of the scholarly situation in Yemen reveals that the Zaydi-Mu'tazilite school of thought was dominant in the North, while the Sunni school of thought was dominant in the South. These factions also influenced scholarly circles, with theological studies being prioritized in North Yemen and hadith studies in the South. Due to political conflicts, scholarly discussions between these two regions were insufficient. At the beginning of the 9th century AH, Ibn al-Wazir, who, despite having been raised in North Yemen, was not content with the science there and instead traveled to Mecca and South Yemen to study hadith, changing the course of events and paving the way for a serious debate between theological and hadith fields.
