Another Sociology
Contemporary sociology of religion focuses on religion as a crucial variable for understanding social institutions and problems, across all fields and at all levels. Consequently, the topics and fields of sociology of religion have become increasingly diverse. Recent rapid developments worldwide have brought renewed attention to sociology. Religion-centered events, in particular, have placed additional demands on the sociology of religion. Furthermore, the growing importance of the sociology of religion is increasingly understood as it helps students in both sociology and theology develop a more comprehensive and insightful perspective on the world. Indeed, the contributions of the sociology of religion are crucial both in understanding religion in the context of a better understanding of social backgrounds and in analyzing the social and cultural backgrounds of religious practice.
This book, prepared as an edition, is designed to meet new expectations in many ways. In addition to exploring the subject matter, methodology, history, and key issues of the sociology of religion, it also explores the role of religion in topics that have not been widely addressed until now. In this context, it attempts to connect religion to numerous topics such as globalization, the body, race, ethnicity, migration, and violence.
